چکیده
An association between blood group A and cancer of the stomach was first reported by Aird, Bentall, and Fraser Roberts (1953). Further associations between blood groups and gastrointestinal disorders have since been described (Clarke, 1964a). This paper reports an investigation into the ABO blood group distribution and salivary secretor status of patients with infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis.

Infantile Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis Surgery versus Nutritional Therapy
Methods: Thirty-eight IHPS patients were enrolled in the study and subdivided into surgical (22 patients) and nutritional groups (16 patients). Surgery involved extramucosal pyloromyotomy, while nutritional therapy consisted of small and frequent meals only. Patients were monitored both clinically and with ultrasound. A long-term follow-up 13-19 years after treatment was carried out to investig...
متن کاملFirst Report of A Unique Presentation of Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis Following Type I Esophageal Atresia; A Case Report
Combination of congenital esophageal atresia and subsequent hypertrophic pyloric stenosis is a rare condition which occurs in early infancy. The underlying etiology and pathophysiology of this association still remains unclear. In this paper we report a unique case of hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, for the first time, which occurred in an infant who underwent surgery for type I esophag...
متن کاملPlasma enteroglucagon and neurotensin in infantile pyloric stenosis.
Plasma concentrations of gastrin, somatostatin, neurotensin, and enteroglucagon were measured by radioimmunoassay in normal 30and 45-day-old neonates and age-matched infants with confirmed idiopathic hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. Plasma gastrin and somatostatin concentrations were similar in both groups, whereas neurotensin and enteroglucagon were significantly lower in the pyloric stenosis gr...
متن کاملRespiratory Depression Caused By Infantile Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis
Infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS) results in electrolyte disturbances due to persistent vomiting. Though the significance of hyperventilation in metabolic acidosis is established, debate continues regarding hypoventilation in metabolic alkalosis. We present six cases of respiratory depression requiring ICU admission in infants with hypochloremic, hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis due...
متن کاملInfantile Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis in Postoperative Esophageal Atresia with Tracheoesophageal Fistula
Development of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis during postoperative period in EA with TEF is rare. Postoperative vomiting or feeding intolerance in EA is more common which is due to esophageal stricture, gastroesophageal reflux and esophageal dysmotility. A typical case of IHPS also presents with non-bilious projectile vomiting at around 3-4 weeks of life. The diagnosis of infantile hyp...
